XDefiant

XDefiant was a free-to-play, fast-paced arena shooter developed and published by Ubisoft. The game combined intense gunplay with faction-based abilities drawn from the Tom Clancy universe, featuring teams of six players competing in various competitive game modes. Players could choose from multiple factions including Wolves, Outcasts, Cleaners, and Echelon, each with unique traits, abilities, and ultimate powers.

Gameplay featured 6v6 arena and linear game modes such as Domination and Escort across uniquely designed maps. Players could personalize their loadouts with primary and secondary weapons, attachments, and faction-specific abilities, adapting their setup on the fly to match evolving battlefield conditions. The game aimed to deliver a competitive FPS experience with the added depth of hero-style abilities.

XDefiant launched in May 2024 but was shut down by Ubisoft in June 2025 due to insufficient player retention. The game broke internal records by surpassing 5 million users quickly but could not maintain its player base in the competitive free-to-play FPS market.
