Battlefield

Battlefield is a long-running military first-person shooter franchise developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. The series debuted with Battlefield 1942 in 2002, a World War II large-scale multiplayer title that set the template for the franchise: expansive maps, combined-arms combat featuring infantry, tanks, aircraft, and naval vessels, and a heavy emphasis on team-based objectives.\n\nOver more than two decades, the series has spanned a wide variety of settings — from historical conflicts (Battlefield 1, Battlefield V) to near-future warfare (Battlefield 2142) and modern military operations (Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield 2042). Core gameplay revolves around conquest and other team objective modes, with destructible environments (the "Levolution" and "Frostbite" engine systems) being a hallmark of the modern entries.\n\nBattlefield 2042, released in November 2021, is the most recent mainline entry and focuses on near-future warfare with large 128-player lobbies on PC and current-gen consoles. The franchise is one of EA's flagship shooter properties and has sold over 88 million copies across all installments worldwide.
