Deadlock is a third-person hero shooter MOBA developed and published by Valve, set in an alternate-history urban fantasy version of early 20th-century New York. Two teams of six players compete across three lanes in a sprawling city map, each working to destroy the opposing team's "Patron" structure while capturing objectives along the way.\n\nEach hero brings a distinct set of abilities combined with gunplay mechanics, blending the fast-paced action of a shooter with the strategic depth of a MOBA. Players earn souls — the in-game resource — by defeating enemies and taking objectives, then spend them on upgrades mid-match to strengthen their hero's stats and abilities.\n\nFirst leaked in May 2024 and officially acknowledged by Valve in August 2024, Deadlock has been available as an invite-only early access title on Steam. Despite its pre-release status, it peaked at over 170,000 concurrent players in September 2024 and became the most wishlisted game on Steam as of mid-2026.
